Having not played Blade since a brief quasi-cameo in the comedy vampire series What We Do In The Shadows, Wesley Snipes returned to the role, sharing the screen with Ryan Reynolds for the first time since Blade: Trinity. Blade was among the Void survivors to join Deadpool and Wolverine in assaulting Cassandra Nova's compound, slaughtering scores of B-List X-Men villains in the process.

At one point in the fight, Blade comments on the futility of the resistance of Cassandra Nova's minions, stating "Some mother******s are STILL trying to ice skate uphill." Of course, this is a reference to Snipes' greatest line in the Blade trilogy, said just before he executes the vampire villain of that film, Deacon Frost. Overhearing this, Blade asserts that he's the only one of his kind around, going as far as to claim "There's only ever gonna be one Blade.", prompting a deadpan stare into the camera by Deadpool.
